About the artist
Betty Mills

During a long life Betty Mills has seen fashions in Art and Craft - as well as the Rag Trade- come and go, but the enduring beauty of Creation remains as absorbing as ever.
For the last twenty five years Betty has concentrated on presenting wildflowers and other natural forms in various ways, hoping to encourage conservation; if only because there is so much beauty to be preserved.

Taught to draw, paint, read and write by a grandfather who was an artist and craftsman in his own right, Betty also followed her mother's example as a needlewoman. Trained at Birmingham College of Art as a dress designer, she obtained a National Diploma in Design after the Second World War, worked as a College lecturer running the dress department at Loughborough, and returned to the rag trade in the 1960's in time to take part in the Hippie Revolution!

Ultimately her talents as an organiser and general designer led to an interesting variety of tasks for the company for whom she worked.
Early retirement "to do her own thing" as a writer, designer, artist, and needlewoman has led, finally, to designing for the Llanrhos Parish Banner Group which includes church banners, wall hangings, and other furnishings for other local churches as well: a wall hanging for St. David's Hospice in Llandudno: designing Flower Festivals; public speaking with visual aids; and writing and illustrating diaries.

Be encouraged to try your own hand at variety and branching out!
